Wellesley College Humanities Study for Founders and Green Halls

This planning study proposes a transformation of iconic Collegiate Gothic buildings to meet the twenty-first century needs of the central administration, student services, and language and area studies departments.

Research for the project included classroom utilization and mix analysis for the entire campus; interviews and discussions with faculty, students, and administration; investigation of physical conditions; and research into modern building code requirements.

The proposed plan joins the buildings to create a single community with shared public spaces with a range of alternatives for re-use of individual spaces, and the creation of new focal points for student life in the Tower Room lounge, the lower campus El Table Café, and new gathering spaces opening onto the North Lawn.
