Orange High School

The renovation and addition at Orange High School joins the existing Middle School and High School in a campus setting to enable sharing of facilities and allow for growth and grade redistribution.

The two story addition is strategically located to highlight a new media center and auxiliary gym. The main entrance is configured to allow community access on nights and weekends without compromising school security. The two story addition relates to the architecture of the existing building. Circulation systems link old and new, improving wayfinding and sightlines for security and oversight. The addition provides ample natural light. Integration of color and pattern provide identity and reinforce school pride with minimal costs. A sky bridge and elevator connects the High School and Middle School completing an accessible route for the entire campus and making it possible for the auditorium, media center, cafeterias, and gymnasiums to be shared by both schools. Renovations include transforming the cafeteria into a two story dining room, upgrades to gym and locker rooms, and design of new science classrooms. Infrastructure includes a “cool” roof, security systems, new mechanical equipment, and LED lighting.
