Alex is committed to producing meaningful architecture and quality designs at every level. His perseverance guided the construction of many successful projects including some of the firm’s most emblematic work. An advocate for sustainable best practices in architecture, he applies the best principles to respond to the current needs of the built environment. Alex believes in the importance of mentorship practices and provides exceptional guidance to the studio’s younger generations.

Alex joined the firm in 1978 and became a Partner in 1997. He has over 40 years of experience leading complex higher education projects, including campus and site planning, new construction, renovations, and adaptive reuse. Alex approaches design challenges with a strong commitment to transforming spaces to better serve their purpose. Leading the firm’s sustainability initiatives, Alex focuses on sustainable design. His efforts are manifest at Arcadia University Commons, Gilman Hall at Johns Hopkins, several projects for NYU, and many public schools in NYC. He has lectured on sustainable design for education at the Society of College and University Planning and the AIA. Has served on Texas AIA and Puerto Rico AIA design awards juries. He is chair of the KHA Green Building Committee and is a LEED Accredited Professional and a Fitwel Ambassador.

Alex received a Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers University and a Master of Architecture from Columbia University, and is a licensed architect in New York and New Jersey.
