School Opens Today for Fall Classes in the Transformed Campus of Friends Seminary
The expansion of Friends Seminary, the oldest coeducational independent school in New York City, creates a single accessible facility for 780 students, within a landmarked district in the East Village. KHA designed an entirely new structure behind the facades of three 1852 townhouses and connected them seamlessly to the school’s main building. With progressive learning environments and extensive landscape and natural elements, this project integrates contemporary architectural solutions into the historic fabric of the campus.
