Historic Place Transformed Into Inspiring Destination for 21st Century Thinking

Catalyzing new approaches for responding to climate change, applying the mathematical and computational methods of modern trade to study ancient trade, and pioneering a new scholarly approach that integrates evolutionary history of the brain and the distant past of the human species are among the eight new interdisciplinary research projects underway at the Neubauer Collegium for Culture and Society at the University of Chicago. This innovative research incubator and institute is set within the walls of the historic, former Meadville Theological Seminary which KHA has transformed into a destination that fosters collaborative research in the humanities and social sciences.

Presentation and exhibition spaces welcome the public on the first floor, while private research spaces, collaborative workshops, and video-enhanced conference rooms are located on upper floors. Contrasting elements of retained paneling and marble in some spaces with the transparent modern glass-enclosed spaces essential for collaboration accommodate a variety of work styles and functional needs.
