Mount Sinai Ambulatory Surgical Facility makes the Most Influential Projects 2020 list by Project Management Institute
Project Management Institute is celebrating the achievements of this unprecedented year in its Most Influential Projects 2020 list. We are proud to see Mount Sinai Ambulatory Surgical Facility recognized as an influential project that overcame obstacles to create long-lasting social impact.
We designed this self-sufficient infrastructure to provide access to qualified surgical treatments not available before to this community. Our goal was to design a prototype of a surgical facility that could be replicated all over the world where needed. Careful analysis of required systems and equipment resulted in elimination of many redundant complex and costly systems typically found in high tech urban hospitals. This research and simplified construction, relying on local materials, made it possible to deliver cost-effective health care in an underserved area. The medical staff is supported by telemedicine links to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, with real-time operating room video conferencing.
