Frances Halsband is Panelist for Urban Design Forum’s Discussion about NYC Parks

Frances Halsband FAIA is an invited speaker and panelist for a discussion organized by the Urban Design Forum about how to design and finance New York City’s neighborhood parks. “Valuing Parks” on Wednesday, February 17, at 6-8pm, is the seventh program of the Forum’s year-long inquiry into strengthening New York City’s physical and social structure.

In her talk, titled “Not a Park!”, Frances will examine how the even the smallest of public spaces could contribute to civic life and community vibrancy, as well as pay their own way. She suggests redefining the notion of a neighborhood park to embrace a more diverse and inspiring use of urban space that welcomes everyone.

Frances is joined by Elissa Hoagland, Managing Principal of HR&A Advisor’s Dallas office; Jamie Maslyn Larson ASLA, Principal at Wagner Hodgson Landscape Architecture; and Signe Nielsen RLA, ASLA, Founding Principal of MNLA.
